Catholic Schools Week - Day of Giving Jan. 30th

posted Jan 26, 2018, 2:05 PM by Catherine Kirchner

Twenty years ago, Saint Pope John Paul II said to an audience of Catholic educators in New Orleans: “Yours is a great gift to the Church, a great gift to your nation.”

Countless people in our country have been blessed by the many gifts of Catholic schools. However, many adults have lost touch with their local Catholic school community. It is time for those people who have been impacted by your school to reconnect with the community that gave them so much, and give back.

With this recognition in mind, the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) is pleased to present the online giving campaign: Many Gifts, One Nation: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools.

This is a time for individuals to give back to their local Catholic school. By leveraging social media, this national day of philanthropy and camaraderie will invite all people, across the country, who have been impacted by Catholic school education in ways big and small to financially donate at a local level.

This day is made possible with the generous support of FACTS Management.

WHEN: Scheduled for 24 hours starting January 30, 2018, 9:00am EST to January 31, 2018, 9:00am EST.
WHERE: https://stmaryscatholicschool.giving.factsmgt.com/
WHY: Because Catholic schools change lives and now is the time to give back!

Families,

When shopping for back to school, please keep the following in mind regarding student dress. We have a uniform dress day on Wednesdays, including the first day of school. At St. Mary's we make a special effort to present ourselves to the world well and display self-respect. Our dress code policy is a reflection of this belief. The complete policy can be found in our student handbook. Below are some of the key highlights.
  • No hoodies are to be worn in the classrooms or in church at any time.
  • No leggings are to be worn unless under a skirt. Pants must have pockets.
  • Active-wear is to be worn only on PE days.
  • Hats are not to be worn in any building at any time.
Families should make every effort to have their students dress for success; button-up shirts, blouses, sweaters, and collared shirts, etc. are encouraged. Jeans should not have holes. Attire with words and large logos are discouraged as they are a distraction to learning.
